Leisure and sports
Holidays, nature and sporting activities
Holidays, nature and activities are a perfect combination.
Peñíscola’s particular geographical location makes it the perfect place to practise all kinds of sports: cycling, mountain biking, rambling, Nordic Walking, sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, fishing, beach volleyball, beach football, etc...
Its beaches, bathed by the quiet waters of the Mediterranean, are a perfect place to practise all kinds of water sports and also offer marvellous day trips, such as views of Peñíscola from the sea or a visit to the Columbretes Islands (a protected nature reserve of 2,500 hectares with a special ecosystem, which is only a couple of hours away by boat). Authorization required for diving.
The Irta mountains (Sierra d´Irta) is the nature reserve to which Peñíscola belongs. Over 90 km of paths and tracks make great family day trips and provide you with the opportunity to practise sport, as you enjoy an ecosystem that is unique in the Iberian Peninsula.
