PEÑÍSCOLA MAGIC SUMMER

Visit the Valencian Communitys opening festival, which welcomes in the summer season through magic, witchcraft, palm readers and endless nights.
From 19th to the 23rd June Peñíscolas streets will show you their other side. Afternoons and nights will never be the same.

Magic
Where better for the magic of summer to begin than in a place as endearing as Peñíscola. The perfect place to learn magic tricks, live the wonder of tales un told… see magicians and conjurers.Both upclose and on the stage.
Children will have so much fun! You will find a lot of activities on the beach, magic workshops, magical storytellers and many, many bewitched characters.
 
Witchcraft
Let yourself be charmed, get involved in spells. Reality or fiction, smiles and surprises, captivating mysteries.
Discover your destiny, ask the star signs or follow the pendulum, which will reveal more things than you could ever imagine…
Good witches, bad sorcerers, white magic and rituals… Keep a close eye on them.
Pay a visit to the ghosts at the Papa Luna Castle, they are waiting for you.
Discover Peñíscola by taking a haunted train. A charmed driver will guide you here and there. Listen to experts talking about myths and legends, parapsychology, UFOs… Will you end up hypnotized?

Endless Nights
See the stars up close, so close that you can almost touch them. Come to Peñíscola Magic Summer 09 -astronomic nights.

“PEÑÍSCOLA’S CASTLE” CLASSICAL THEATRE FESTIVAL
Calderón de la Barca, Miguel de Cervantes, Valle-Inclán or Beaumarchais are just some of the playwrights that come together in this theatre festival for our enjoyment, with their spectalcular selection of classical plays in an ideal setting: the parade ground of Pope Luna’s Castle, by starlight.
The festival takes place in July and August.

Programa XII Festival de Teatro Clásico "Castillo de Peñíscola"

INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL
During July renowned jazz bands and musicians such as Bebo Valdés, Manhattan Transfer and Kenny Barron Trio give us a clearer idea of the special and unique musical style, Jazz. For a week there are performances in Peñíscolas’s Conference Palace and in other areas of the old quarter of the city, where the audience is able to enjoy open-air concerts. During the festival there are also activities such as exhibitions or seminars with jazz as the main subject.

INTERNATIONAL OLD AND BAROQUE MUSIC FESTIVAL
First-rate musicians and orchestras come together in this musical exhibition that is already consolidated within the field of European old and baroque music. The festival is opened with a pyromusical show set in Peñíscola’s castle, where a dazzing synchronization of music and fireworks will be held. It takes place in August in the castle.

Programa XIV Festival de Música Antigua y Barroca de Peñíscola

“PEÑÍSCOLA CITY” CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERTS CYCLE
Another one of the annual appointments of the city in the sea. This festival consists of  classical music concerts with the participation of musicians who are of a national and international level, as well as young performers. The cycles start every year with the traditional "Fisherman’s Mass". It takes place around the middle of September.

HONDARRIBIA-PEÑÍSCOLA’S INTERNATIONAL GUITAR FESTIVAL
During Easter, Peñíscola’s castle holds guitar concerts  where performers from all over the world participate, taking place in both twinned cities, Peñíscola and Hondarribia.

MUSIC BANDS FESTIVAL
At the end of July the Parque de Artillería Peñíscola hosts the traditional annual concert performed by music associations and organized by the musical association Verge de l'Ermitana, in collaboration with Peñíscola’s City Council.
