Peñíscola, also known as the City in the Sea, is crowned at the top of rock upon which it stands by Pope Luna's Castle, a Templar fortress dating back to 1307 and which was transformed into an impregnable watchtower, surrounded as it was by the set of walls that protect the Old Town.
